What is Tantalum?

Tantlum is a chemical element on the periodic table with the symbol Ta and atomic number 73. Tantelum is rare, hard, blue-grey, lustrous transition metal that is highly corrosion-resistant. It is part of the refractory metals group, which is widely used as minor components in alloys.

How is Tantalum Different?

Tantulum is dense, ductile, VERY hard, easily fabricated and highly conductive of heat and electricity. Unlike most contemporary metals, Tantalum is renowned for its resistance to corrosion by acids; Tantalum is almost completely immune to attack by normally aggressive acids. 
It is estimated that there are less than 50 years left of Tantalum resources, based on extraction of current rates, demonstrating the rarity of the metal within the contemporary metals market.

Is Tantalum easy to remove in case of an emergancy?

Tantalum is a durable and dense material. Tantalum also has similar charictaristics to gold when it comes to certain things such as removing the ring in case of an emergency. Tantalum can be removed easily from the finger by using the same ring removal techniques as found in gold or platinum wedding bands. No clamping devices or vice grips are needed for Tantalum ring removal as would be the case of Tungsten Carbide Rings.
